After Tekken 2, Devil split in two different entities, those being Devil Kazuya and Devil Jin. His original incarnation serves as Kazuya's devil form. Somehow the monster alien Ogre seems to have a relation with the Devil Gene and demons of Earth. The Devil Gene is ancient and the demon Azazel claims to be its creator. Devil is a playable character in Tekken Tag Tournament and his form is playable in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Tekken 7.
Devil's powers are not available with Kazuya in the fifth and sixth games. From Tekken 5 onwards Kazuya and Devil act together as a single antagonist and Devil acts as Kazuya's "evil side" which is visible from his red eye since the fourth game. He returns as a main antagonist in Tekken 4, but he is not a playable character and his meeting with Jin causes the last identity problem on Kazuya. He makes another appearance in Tekken 3, in a scene that happens four years before the game, where half of him inhabits Jin's body by heritage. Devil is a playable character in Tekken 2, where he is the final boss and the main antagonist of the game. ~ Heihachi to Jin about how the Devil Gene awakened inside of Kazuya in Tekken: Bloodline.ĭevil first appears in Tekken as an alternate costume for Kazuya, who's partially overhelmed with his hatred by the demon. We believe that he only emerges when he can sense the most powerful of fighters. Heihachi: I have been trying to unlock the mysery of Ogre for years. I do not possess it, but that kind of true fighting power is what speaks to Ogre. Heihachi: The origin of the Devil Gene remains a mystery to me. He was completely overtaken by the evil force. It gave him great power, but it also consumed him. Heihachi: The Devil Gene enhanced Kazuya's fighting ability. Jin: This is why my mother never told me anything about him. But it was his pure hatred for me that awakened The Devil Gene inside of him. He always had the potential for great evil.
It gave Kazuya strength and power that was almost supernatural. Heihachi: The Devil Gene is a type of genetic abnormality. Now, after all these years, I have the answer. I didn't understand at the time that something had changed inside Kazuya. ~ Devil revealed his identity to Heihachi (while controlling Kazuya).
Now, I'll retrieve what's rightfully mine from him! The time has come for my resurrection! Twenty years ago, I lost a part of myself when you nearly killed me.
